With 14 different shades, it means that from the lightest to the darkest, there will be enough options that will match plenty of skin tones.

This is also a 3 in 1 product, that can be used as a highlighter, contouring and concealer. Nice, isn’t it?

In the case you want to use it as a highlighter, take a shade that’s 2 times lighter than yours. For contouring, choose one that’s 2 times darker.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer Review: On the tarte website, they say that 43% of the concealer is infused with something called Tape Technology. I Had no idea what that was…

But apparently, as they explain, it is a ‘veil of silk’ that will help you cover up fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds fancy, right?

They have mango seed, shea butter and licorice root, that will nourish and brighten all skin types, including these ones that are very sensitive (We’ll talk more about it down the review).

Another highlight I think you might be interested in is that it’s easy-to-blend formula delivers 12-hour crease-proof wear.

What Are The Benefits of Mango seed, Shea Butter And Licorice Root?

Mango Seed Butter

Dry skin will love Mango Seed butter can be used as a moisturizer, helping skin to feel nourished and moisturized. Me, as an oily skin person, could feel it moisturizing without feeling greasy at the same time. Mango seed butter is also vitamin rich that will not only hydrate but protect your skin as well against free radical damage. But in a nutshell it will prevent skin from drying.

Shea butter

Extracted from shea tree nuts, shea butter is great for your skin as well. Its consistency will help the concealer to provide a smooth effect on your skin, making it very easy to spread and blend, softening the skin, conditioning and toning.

Shea butter is also very known for its anti-aging properties. It helps retain skin elasticity and Some research even says that it can be related to promoting collagen and reducing the breakdown of the collagen that is already present in your skin.

Licorice Root Extract

Licorice Root extract is a plant with a rich shooting effect on the skin. It is ideal for resolving uneven skin tones problems, and is ideal for nourishing sensitive skin, which is ideal for the under eyes area. This extract will be very effective on brightening dark circles and color correcting your skin.

Is The Texture Nice?

Even though the tarte shape tape is a full coverage product, I still find it to be light weight on the touch. It is more creamy to liquid but still on the light side.

I noticed that it can cover the area (in my case, my under eyes) and its texture allowed me to blend it very easily, with fingers, sponge and brush.

The lightweight formula is also very rich and moisturising at the same time, which did not leave too oily. I have oily skin so I do care a lot if a product will be leaving me shiny.

I think its finishing is not matte (as I still would need a settling powder if I wanted a more perfect finalization) but it worked well without the powder too.

What Do They Promisse?

As the name already says, it will cover your under-eyes, but this is not like many regular concealers out there, because it has a high full coverage that will require you to apply just a little amount of the product.

First of all, this is a good thing in my opinion, but this can also be bad if you apply too much product mistakenly.

For example, if you apply too much, then you might feel that it will not give the natural desired look you want and then it is gonna be a mess to fix it.

So make sure that you apply just a little amount, so you can precisely have the best effect of this product.

At the same time, this can also be a good thing because that means it’ll just take forever to finish and you will need it only in tiny amounts.

Just be sure to use it well often, because I always have this problem of buying the makeup and not using that much, just to realise later the shelf life is over (and forever)!

1. A Multitask Product

Apart from concealing, I was happy to learn about a few more benefits claimed by this concealer.

I liked the idea that It can also be used as a highlighter and is great for contouring. Evidently you will need to buy a different shade for that: 2 tones lighter for highlight and 2 tones darker for contouring.

I haven’t tried these concealers as highlighter and I think I might not really use it as such. Maybe because I always tend to prefer a more natural look and am not really a huge fan of that so far.

You will essentially have a matte highlighter that should be applied on the high points of your beautiful face!

The meaning of highlighting here is not those shimmery items that you will normally use. But instead it will bring more texture from the light, as much as the contouring gives depth to your makeup.

As mentioned, I didn’t also buy a darker shade to experiment as a contouring. But I like the idea and think that might be an interesting experiment for the future.

2. No Crease, No Cakey Look

I do agree with that, but I must also say that it feels funny when applied too much. So as I said before, you just need a very little bit of this concealer to work, or at least you should apply with moderation, until you find it will be enough to cover your dark circles.

One thing that I noticed is that applying a primer colour correcting cream before the concealer application does help it look to its best, but it worked out well without it in the same way.

So far, nothing to complain about regarding how it looks on the skin, as it indeed does a really good job.

3. Skin Feels And Looks Smoother

I only applied to a small area under the eyes so I’m going to write the review from this perspective.

I liked the way it looked natural and felt comfortable all the time while using the tarte shape tape concealer.

I have been in love with the MAC concealer for so many years, because I think it is lightweight and natural and this one makes me feel as comfortable as I am, when I use the concealer that I am used to.

It smoothed the dark circles as well, and can even say I am impressed with the results. One only consideration that I am about to repeat is that it looked slighter better in conjunction with a colour correction cream.

Does It Last Long?

There are two main points we can take a look at here. First, I have mentioned that this concealer can last up to 16 hours.

Secondly, I also mentioned that its formula delivers 12-hour crease-proof wear. How cool is that? I don’t know you, but I got really excited.

So far as I can remember I spent the entire day out and here I am gonna share my impressions based on a few uses.

I normally don’t retouch makeup. I just apply it once and let it go (unless I am at a party at a night out). But during the day, on my normal activities or wherever I need to go out, I rarely worry about it.

Goodly enough, after a few hours, when I came to check out, just to see how this concealer reacted, I was happy enough.

Things were where they should be (lol) I mean, makeup was still placed there, not too much oil, and still super fine even on the days I didn’t use any sort or primer, color corrector or setting powder.

After a few hours further later, all the way through the end of the day I was still doing well with it. Pretty happy, nothing to complain about.

I am not sure exactly how long it lasted but I can assure you it took a long time and I approve of the durability, for sure.

How To Use tarte shape tape concealer?

If you just apply it as a normal concealer, you can easily apply it alone and you’ll still have excellent coverage, but there are a few tricks that will help you keep it up for longer.

The first tip I can share with you is not to forget the primer, as it will set and prepare your skin to receive the product.

Also apply foundation before and use a color correction product that will help you not only fix the product for longer, it will help you even the dark circles even more.

For a final touch, I like to settle the skin with a settling powder and a translucid powder and of course a fixed spray will be a plus.

You can use your thingers for that, as well as a sponge or a brush like these ones here. I tried all these options and this product will blend well, doesn’t matter the tool you use for it.

If you want to give it a try and use it as a highlighter, apply a little on the high points of the face like chin, centre of your forehead and chin.

What About The shades?

It is so good when we see a product that is concerned enough about the diversity. It is very nice to know that the tarte shape concealer has 14 shades and tarte has a good feature that can help you find your shade online. Now is the time that we are going to be face to face with the pros and cons. There are a few things that I would like to share with you. Take a look:
