If you need to do something about the mess in your life, you are not alone! Everybody faces it occasionally, but the good news is you can get back on track with dedication.
Today, I am sharing a list of things that helped me so much that I am confident they will also help you!
Brainstorming
Suppose you think about how long it takes to organize your life or the number of tasks on your to-do list. In that case, it will scare you out, so the best way to get started is to know what you want, what the big picture, but also break it down into baby steps, and you can enjoy doing it little by little and celebrate the small success along the way.
Write It Down
There are two phases for this exercise. In the first phase, write down everything that comes to your mind that is bothering you. Make a list of everything that needs to be organized and changed and what you need to throw away physically, on your mind, and spiritually.
Then, once you know better about yourself, what you are struggling with, what you like, and what you want to keep and ditch, take another look and write down a list of the things you need to organize and create sublists for each topic.
For example, you must organize your house and list everything that needs to be done there. Then you realize you need to manage your computer and make another list. Apart from that, you noticed you need to organize your dietary and cooking for the week, and the list goes on and on.
Get A Planner
It can be a physical or a digital planner. I like to have both, but you can choose the best. For physical planners, I like the kikki-k personal planners, which are lovely, and for digital, I love Trello, Notion, and Everplan.
Plan Your Goals
Now that you have the entire list on your hands look at what is urgent vs. what is important. You will prioritize the urgent over the important. This way, you can classify the tasks as daily, weekly, quarterly, monthly, or even manually.
Urgent Vs. Important
For example, you feel it is essential to clean the house, but you have some critical deadlines over the board; you may need to wait a little until this is done and be ok with it. You can avoid procrastination by cleaning the house when you have urgent tasks.
Taking action
Congratulations! Enough of brainstorming; you are a few steps away from becoming more organized. But before jumping to the big stuff, let’s dive into the foundations or organization so you can clear space in your life and your mind.
Start With Your Purse
Run to your bag purse and take everything off it. Decide what to keep there and what you will throw away. Once you are done, clean it, disinfect and use a simple bag organizer to have everything in the right place. Ideally, doing it at least once a week would be best.
Define A Laundry Day
Pick up one day of the week to do the laundry. I usually do it during the weekends, but you can do it on Friday evening if you like to spend the weekend out and about. Take this opportunity to find laundry soaps and after-wash liquids that smell nice and need extra care!
Organize Your Closet
In this stage, let’s start small and be practical. Select the clothes you will keep, which ones you throw away, and which you will give to charity. Remember to find particular recycling points for clothes to avoid ambient impacts.
Then, wash everything and put it back in an organized manner. A good idea is to buy containers and storage boxes to have everything in place.
You don’t need to divide things by colors or stuff like that if you don’t want to. Make sure to free space and have everything folded and organized to start.
Adopt A Morning Routine
This is important to clear your mind about your days and goals. Your morning routine can take as long as you need, depending on your schedule and life balance. If you don’t have time, reserve 10 minutes to meditate, pray, and set your intentions.
Final Takes
This is just the beginning; start small, and you can begin at the pace you get used to your new routine. I want to kindly remind you to take it easy, as changing and keeping tidy is not easy, and you will probably bounce back to the messy state from time to time; take a few deep breaths and start over again!
